Hanging out with the Webbs

This weekend Diana, Melanie, and Chandler came to visit. On Friday we drove together from Wheaton to Aaron's track meet at Concordia University, and stood in the rain to watch him tie his personal best with a jump of 1.91 meters and win the high jump!

After the track meet, we took the L from River Forest into downtown, and after a long walk down the Magnificent Mile, we stopped at Giordano's for some of the best pizza ever!

On Saturday, we made the long trip up to Milwaukee, stopping along the way at Gurnee Mills Outlet Mall to get in some shopping.

After an exciting car ride in the rain, we arrived in Milwaukee with plenty of time to watch batting practice for the Cubs - Brewers game!

Wheaton Twilight Track Meet

Aaron placed fifth in the High Jump today with a jump of 6'3/4". It was Wheaton's first home meet of the season, so Matthew and lots of other Wheaton friends were able to come watch. Aaron did well this week in spite of the incredibly cold weather, tightness in his back, and a rolled ankle! The next home meet is Aaron's last meet ever! Wheaton will be hosting the Conference Track Meet this year and since that will be graduation weekend, Mommy and Daddy and Kent and Diana and our grandparents will be able to see Aaron jump as well! We're excited for the next 4 meets and also the last one!

Be Counted

Seeing as how it's almost my last day of work and most of you don't know what I've been up to these last few weeks, I thought I would upload this picture (above) of my workstation. I sit behind this desk all day and smile at almost every person who walks by, which is quite a few considering my location nestled in the cafeteria of the Du Page County Government building. Anyways, I take books and draw pictures, so my five hours per day are definitely not wasted and it's nice to finally have some sort of income. However, I won't be sorry to pack up my things on Monday and turn in my badge (below) especially since officially with the census, I'm not even a Woodard!

NACFLA Conference 2010

This Thursday I went to Anderson, Indiana with two other students and three profs from Wheaton to attend the annual North American Christian Foreign Language Association Conference. Us students presented a panel on Cien Anos de Soledad by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Our presentation on Friday went really well and, since I was so nervous all morning, it was nice to be done and be able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the conference.

Aside from being a great academic experience, this conference was for me like a spiritual retreat. The times of corporate worship in many languages and the academic conversation of the conference was really illuminating for me, helping me better see God's hand in my life this past year. I am feeling more and more that God is leading me to go to grad school, and this weekend confirmed that. I love to worship God with my mind and I have really seen Him leading me to trust and follow him through my unemployment. I don't totally understand how he will work this all out money-wise and with Aaron's work, but I am confident that He has a plan for us and I am now exploring Grad school as part of that plan.

Here are a few more pictures of our time. Dr. Townsend and Dr. Roop, Amy Betts, Daniel Jensen and I mostly hung out together and we had a great time teasing and conversing together.

He is Risen!

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And he lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

This morning Aaron and I went out at dawn to watch the sunrise. We read the story of the resurrection from Luke together while we watched the sun come up. It was a really special way to spend our first Easter together.
After the beautiful worship service at church, we came home and shared a lovely meal together.

Easter Eggs

On Friday night we made these special
Easter Eggs from a kit that a friend gave me.
Watch for them in our upcoming
post about our Easter celebration.

Track Meet at North Central

Today we went to Aaron's track meet at North Central. He cleared the bar at 6' 0 and 3/4", which put him in seventh place! The high jump was held inside because of rain early in the day, but once the skies cleared up it turned into a really beautiful day for the other events.

Our new bedroom

On Thursday we finally got a boxspring and dressers and now
our bedroom actually looks like a real living area! We love
spending time in there, and now that we've straightened out a
slight miscommunication we had about our expectations for
the cleanliness of the room, we can both feel good keeping the room
clean. We finally have a nice bedroom that we can actually live in!

Three-Month Anniversary Picnic

With the beautiful weather we've finally been having,
for our three month anniversary Aaron and I took
Matthew to the park for a picnic. In spite of the
crazy wind and overcast skies, it turned out to be a
beautiful day and a beautiful way to celebrate
a quarter of a year together!

Sweet 16 in St. Louis!

On Friday, March 26, Aaron had a track meet in St. Loius. While the meet went well, what was more exciting was the opportunity for Aaron to attend the NCAA basketball tournament in St. Louis following the game. Aaron was given money for a ticket anonymously as a birthday present. He saw Tennessee defeat Ohio State 76-73 and Michigan State knock off Northern Iowa 59-52. The Edward Jones Dome was loud and exciting for both games, and Aaron sat with fans of Tennessee and Northern Iowa for the two games. It was a great present for Aaron, and he is very thankful to the anonymous person who gave him the wonderful gift.
